It seems some of all that oil wealth is used in pushing innovation. Qatar, a small wealthy Arab emirate won the bid to host the soccer World Cup 2022 and part of the plan was to find a way to air-condition the newly built soccer stadiums since the temperature is not what the players, nore the audience are used to. The solution is an enourmous radio controled hovercraft, built from lightweight materials by Dr. Saud Abdul Ghani and his team at Qatar University.
